Honey is nectar that the bees collect from our flowers.
Honey consists of a lot of stuff that is healthy for our body.
But, remember that honey is sugar, and should be used with reason.
”Diligent as a bee”
is a common saying. Our bees are constantly working … .
The worker-bees live during summer for 6-7 weeks.
During the last weeks their wings are worn down when they are
collecting nectar, pollen or water.
In the bee-hive nectar is transformed to honey.
| To produce half
a
kilo of honey the bees must cover a distance
corresponding to two times around the globe. During this journey
they have made between three to four million visits to flowers.
Bees are extra delighted with dandelion, maple, raspberry, rose bay, heather and a few others. |
The colour of honey
depends on what kind of flowers the bees have collected
the
nectar from. Dandelion, sallow and raspberries yields pale honey.
Heather
yields dark honey which has a significantly richer
taste than the others.
